When Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant Jennifer Whiting Dennis and her husband, Bill, tied the knot, they knew just what they wanted a ceremony and a celebration that were personal, memorable and charitable.

In a spacious two-story English post and beam barn venue built in the 1800s complete with sparkling vintage chandeliers they said their I do’s on Jennifer’s parent’s 51st wedding anniversary.

The newlyweds included a new take on the tradition of bride and groom kissing when glasses clinked at the reception. They invited guests to donate any amount to The Mary Kay Foundation℠ in place of clinking glasses and they would honor the contribution by kissing.

Mary Kay Independent Senior Sales Director Tobi Bolt introduced the idea to guests, explaining the vital mission of The Foundation. She encouraged revelers to follow her lead as she enthusiastically made the first donation.

Throughout the evening, as children and adults filled jars around the venue with coins and bills, the happy couple obliged with many merry kisses.

“Cancer has touched my life and my husband’s life,” comments Jennifer. “The Foundation is close to my heart because of its critical work to end cancers affecting women and domestic violence. Our guests really got into supporting this unique way to honor those efforts.”

Jennifer also suggests variations to this idea, like requesting a specific song or a dance with the bride or groom for donations instead of a kiss.

“This helped make our dream day even more meaningful since we could celebrate and give back at the same time,” reflects Jennifer as her June 13 anniversary date approaches. “We all had a lot of fun with it. I’ve always been inspired by Mary Kay Ash’s generous spirit!”
