Seminar Is Often Where Dreams Begin

As I watched a video at Seminar 2007 about The Mary Kay Foundation, I began to think about what I could do.  I’d done a few successful fundraisers within the community and our local schools.  I knew I could do it for The Mary Kay Foundation.
At first, I had more questions than answers.  What kind of event?  Where would we hold it?  How would we organize it?

Since I come from a family of runners, a 5k run seemed like the natural choice for an event.  My husband, Garry, and our three sons are active members of the race team each year.

With each passing race, I set higher goals -- just like Mary Kay taught us for our businesses.  Soon, it became obvious that the only way to raise more money was by creating more events.  So we’ve added a golf scramble, chili cook-off and wine tasting fundraisers to our Bee Brave lineup.  As soon as one event is done, we’re working on another.

Of course, I don’t do it alone.  I prayed for God to send the right people to share my passion, and I have been blessed with great volunteers.

Yet even with the success of our events, I still ask myself every year whether or not I want to do the race again.

"That's when God calls my name and tells me to read Hebrews 12:1-2," Pat says. "Let us run with endurance the race God has set before us."

One of my main motivators is a 45-year-old woman from our church diagnosed with cancer three years ago.  She has an 80 percent chance of staying cancer free because someone cared enough to raise funds to find the chemo treatment specifically for her strain of cancer.  She lost a friend to the same type just three years earlier because that treatment had not yet been discovered.

I trust that someone’s dollar WILL be the dollar that finds a cure!

So I challenge you.  What dreams do you have?  If you share them with others, you’d be surprised how much they can grow.

Independent Senior Sales Director Pat Ringnalda is The Mary Kay Foundation’s No. 1 fundraiser this year. She’s also a dedicated wife, mother and very proud grandma of four.  She lives in Caledonia, Michigan.  You can connect with Pat through Facebook.  Bee Brave also has its own Facebook page, where you can find the latest on every event.  Be sure to check out too.
